The Top Employers Certification Programme enables organisations to assess and improve the workplace environment, positively impacting the world of work. To become a certified Top Employer, your organisation will be evaluated according to entry criteria. Once approved, an organisation will participate in the HR Best Practices Survey and will be recognised as a Top Employer, certifying your organisation for its people practices.
We Start at the Right Place.
The Service kick-off stage ensures organisations are set up for a successful certification journey. In this stage we provide an overview of the upcoming certification process, HR Best Practices Survey, the Top Employers Portal and supporting tools and materials.
We ask the right questions.
In the Survey stage, participating organisations are required to complete the HR Best Practices Survey, which is our reference tool for analysing their HR practices. The survey is based on six domains that cover key HR themes: Steer, Shape, Attract, Develop, Engage and Unite. All questions in the survey are mandatory, and it is crucial that all members involved in the programme understand the concepts, definitions, and requirements for the various questions in the survey.
During the Validation stage, Top Employers Institute validates the answers submitted by the organisations in the survey. A dedicated HR Auditor will be assigned and will be responsible for ensuring that the answers provided in the survey correctly reflect the HR practices and conditions provided to the employees within the company. Top Employers Institute checks the consistency of interpretation and proactively corrects potential errors or ambiguities to ensure that all submitted data provided is correct and reliable.

Once the Validation stage has been completed, the final stage is Certification, where we communicate the certification outcome to the organisation, followed by a Certification Celebration for those organisations that have been successfully certified. It is worth noting that the validation process is focused on the practices presented and not based on employee interviews or onsite inspection of documentation .
After receiving their Certification Notification, participating organisations can view their results via the Results Dashboard within the Top Employers Portal. Top Employers will then also be able to access other benefits of the programme, including the ability to benchmark their performance, align their data, leverage their brand and connect with other Top Employers.
